Terry Fox. . . the dream lives on!

This week we have spent some time learning about Terry Fox and his dream to find a cure for cancer.  We read some stories, heard his aunt speak to us, and watched a video about his amazing journey.  Today we focused on Terry`s dream and how hard he worked at accomplishing it.  Even though he did not accomplish his dream he worked so hard at it!  At the end of our discussion we thought about what our dreams are or what we wanted to get better at and then we recorded them on a running shoe.  Here is a picture of our work . . .
here are some of our dreams. . .  My dream is to:  be a scientist, a teacher, an app maker, a volunteer at critter care, a famous soccer player,  an artist, win the soccer world cup, do a ``kickup`in Sekido, meet the real Pokemon, get better at rock climbing, to be a lawyer, get better at running so I can run with my dad, and to be a lego builder!  Wow! What amazing dreams we have.

Patterns Here and Patterns There

Look what we are learning in Math!  We know that:
Here are pictures of some of the patterns we made.  Can you name some of our patterns?

Here are some more examples of patterns we made using our iPads and the app Draw and Tell.

We are learning that even though the colour  of a pattern changes it doesn't change the pattern. . . .  think of wallpaper!  There are many different colours all in the same pattern!!!!

 same pattern . . . . different colours!

What are you learning in math?

Welcome to a New Year!

Welcome to our class blog.  We are known as the  Cheetahs!  There are 24 students in our class - 10 boys and 14 girls.  We are working on creating a fun, caring classroom.  Last week we set our class expectations after talking about what it looks like, sounds like and feels like to be a student at Chantrell Creek.  Here is a picture of how we show respect to others, ourselves and our school.

We look forward to sharing our learning and thinking with you this year.  Check back often to see what we are up to.
